Mark “Spike” Stent has just won the the award Mix Engineer of the Year from the Music Producers Guild. Congratulations!
The annual MPG awards are voted by guild members, therefore show the professional acknowledgement of the peers, not the public. After working with the likes of Madonna, Beyoncé, Björk, Lily Allen, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Oasis, U2, Usher, Lady Gaga engineer Spike is considered one of the most successful British mixers.
He mixed all three albums of the Script so far and even though the award is not related to any work he’s done for the band, I’m glad The Script is able to work with such brilliant professionals.
PS: One of Mark’s favourite David Bowie won The MPG Innovation Award at the same time. Click here for other winners.
